I stumbled across a quote and it really made me think, especially in light of the new year. Did you know that it only takes about 18 hours to read the Old Testament and 72 to read the New Testament? I actually had to go make sure that was true because I had perceived it to take longer considering how thick the Bible is.
And that got me thinking. If that’s all the time it really takes than what is my excuse for not reading it daily!
If I do some figuring…that’s less than 4 out of 365 days to read the whole thing or less than 15 minutes per day.
That seems to be a small slot of time considering the benefits of spending time with God. That is probably the main key to peace in our lives.
Spending time with God increases our worship, wisdom, understanding and peace. It stabilizes our emotions and grounds our life.
Since my theme for this year is peaceful calm, I can sense God calling me to quiet moments with him. And more than ever before I am looking forward to being with Him and soaking in His truth. I know my home will never be peacefully calm unless I let Christ reveal Himself through me. I know that’s the only way I will be able to help big bro.
The new year seems so fresh and full of promise and I am excited about the fresh start. I hope this new year brings hope and promise to you also. What are you looking forward to the most?
