The Knight and The Firefly is a cute little book that teaches kids a biblical lesson about being brave courtesy of a little boy named Oliver and his lightening bug friend names Phineas. My boys thoroughly enjoyed the story and the bright, bold pictures! I had followed a link from another blog I read and requested a review copy from B&H Publishing Group. It’s description looked really good and I was thrilled when they accepted my request and asked for my address since I am still a small time blogger.
When the package came, we read the book right away- me, big bro and little bro. The boys seemed to enjoy it. It is about a boy and a bug and it is a very sweet lesson in bravery. It uses Psalm 91:1&2 as its scripture lesson and I agree that it is a great one for the boys to learn. I think that is going to be the next one we memorize. (Inspiration came today through my friend Annie’s blog post)
The one who lives under the protection of the Most High dwells in the shadow if the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.'”
Psalm 91: 1-2
We read the story again today and then I snapped some pictures outside of the boys looking through the book. It is beautifully illustrated- the bright colors are as captivating as the story itself.
If you have a child who is fearful of the dark, Oliver’s conversation with the delightful firefly will be sure to leave a lasting impression of safety in God’s care for us.
I tried to get the boys to tell me what they liked about The Knight and The Firefly or to describe it for me so I could share their feedback, but they both just looked at me blankly. They did enjoy it though!!
If you go the books page on B&H Publishing’s website, it is available for purchase and there is a 6 minute video recording of it for you to view. There are also lots of other cool kids books and resources there as well.
Happy Tuesday Friends!
