“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am gentle and humble in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light
Matthew 11:28-30
This is one lesson that I find hard to learn and accept, yet one that brings me so much comfort. So often I find myself scheming and planning and sometimes manipulating so that things go the way I want them to. Or at the very least the way I think is best.
But truth be told, my God is all knowing and all powerful. He holds my life in his hands and and knows how everything will play out. Nothing, either good or bad, that happens to me surprises him! And the best part is that he also knows how the pieces will all fit back together.
“When I stop striving to create a life for myself,
I find the life God created for me.”

Although I do not know the author of that quote, it has left an impression on my life and coupled with those verses from Matthew, it has become unforgettable. Striving to create a life for myself often leaves me anxious, sick to my stomach and fearful. Even though I have “learned my lesson”, from time to time I still find myself feeling these things and I have to go back and set my heart right. Surrendering it yet again to the Lord allows me to bask in the peace that follows.
Friend, if you are feeling anxious and fearful today, trust the Lords plan for your life and rest. He has not intended for you to suffer so and feel out of control. His love is perfect and covers all wrongs. Stop striving, call out and he will hear.
